My last project while working at UWT Logistics was to create a short research report on the emergence of Block-Chain technology in the Supply Chain and Logistics Industry. I worked in conjunction with Dr. Ernest Nichols at the University of Memphis and had input from a variety of different sources and experts in the supply chain and business information system fields.
The report covered the following topics:
How Block-Chain works and why it is superior in reliability, traceability, and verifiability to legacy database systems.
Which companies are adopting the technology and how they are applying it to meet challenges in the Logistics space.
What the risks and benefits of adopting Block-Chain strictly for internal use are.
What should UWT's next steps toward evaluating and adopting the technology should be.
At the end of the report I made several recommendations to senior management, before concluding with a list of sources and references. I am currently working on attaching an amended version of the project. Please check back soon!
